Revitalizing Communities Through Regenerative Farming

Join us for an immersive three-day retreat exploring the transformative power of regenerative farming in revitalizing communities and fostering resilience. This year’s Thriving Communities Gathering, hosted at the serene Whidbey Institute (Clinton, Washington on Whidbey Island) brings together community leaders, passionate individuals, and trailblazing organizations featured in our latest films.

  • Learn from and be inspired by the tireless efforts of individuals and communities that have emerged stronger and more connected through regenerative farming.
  • Engage in thought-provoking dialogues, activities, and interactive sessions within the Institute’s inviting meeting spaces, surrounded by 106 acres of lush woodland sanctuary.
  • Connect with others over incredible meals made onsite and nod-off in cozy cabins and rooms under the stars.

2024 Films in Focus: Rising Above Challenges, Rooted in Community, Resilient in Spirit

Through their innovative approaches and dedication to their communities, these organizations and individuals exemplify the essence of rising above challenges, being rooted in community, and embodying resilience. Immerse yourself in the extraordinary stories and discussion on regenerative farming and its impact across the U.S. through our 2024 Thriving Communities film series.

These inspiring documentaries will be the heart of the Gathering, fostering dialogue, building connections, and sparking meaningful conversations among participants. Join us for exclusive screenings followed by engaging discussions with the remarkable changemakers featured in each film:

  1. Detroit Black Community Food Security Network (MI): Discover how this grassroots organization empowers the Black community in Detroit through urban farming, food justice, and community-building initiatives.
  2. Rainbow Roots Farm (IA): Hear about Corbin Scholz’s journey and her experiences starting her own CSA farm and transforming her community through sustainable agriculture as a young woman.
  3. Red Acre Farms (UT): Learn about Sara Patterson’s thriving CSA farm and listen to her stories of cultivating a brighter future through organic practices and local food advocacy.
  4. iLOGIC (AL): Explore the multifaceted work of Tannur Ali and engage in conversation with her about empowering her rural community through regenerative farming, youth education, and creative placemaking.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to be part of a powerful learning experience that combines the magic of cinema with the wisdom of real-life changemakers. The films and discussions will be the catalyst for deeper understanding, meaningful connections, and inspired action.

Who Should Attend?

This Gathering is open to all who feel a deep connection to the power of community and regenerative farming and wish to learn, contribute, and be part of a community of changemakers. Whether you are a farmer, activist, educator, policymaker, filmmaker, or simply passionate about building a more just and sustainable world, your presence and perspective are valuable.
