A Light in Every Cell The title works two ways. There are the cells that lock, and there are the cells that make up a body. Both can hold light.

Since 2008, Yoga Behind Bars has carried trauma-informed yoga and meditation into prisons, jails, and detention centers across Washington. This film follows that work. It also follows Faraji Bhakti, who found the practice while he was inside and has spent the years since growing community in Seattle and Tacoma with pre-liberated and liberated individuals. 

What the camera keeps returning to is subtler than a typical program. A yoga class becomes a space of liberation, connection, and transformation. Building a practice inside is something that no one can take away. And that practice outlasts the sentence—the part nobody plans for and the part that changes everything.
