Coming to the Table Richmond, VA, and Thriving Communities Gathering celebrated the Carillon Community film premiere on April 29, 2022.
The premier of The Carillon Community Gathering was the culmination of a film shot in August 2021 in Richmond, VA in a small community five minutes from downtown Richmond,
In the 1960s, the then-segregated community decided to welcome black families whose lives had been changed by the disruption of new interstate highway development.
The community overcame the challenges of realtors, redlining, and community culture to become one of the most open and exciting places to live in Richmond today.
The initial showing was in November 2021 at the Whidbey Institute during the fall Thriving Communities in person Gathering. The final version was held at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture on Thursday the evening of April 29 followed by a panel of residents who have lived there for over 30 years.
